It was Wednesday, December 28th, 2011 when I received an email from Hanan Levin. In essence, it said this:

Two years ago (at the age of 56) I had my first child. Recently I started commissioning artists from all over the world to create unique work based on photographs of my baby daughter. […] If you are available, you have free reins to create anything that tickles your fancy in any style, your choice of character & atmosphere.”

Here is the full story and process images of how the painting came to be: www.dorian-iten.com/portfolio/…

Hey all,
I'm launching a new course (starting next Saturday!) and here is the replay of a preview webinar we did.
The feedback has been great, so if you're interested in the topic, you should check it out here.

About the course

What this course will teach you

Whether you are a beginner or a professional, the 8 week course gives you a set of tools to overcome past struggles and confusions and begin drawing & painting with confidence. Understanding light effects makes it possible to capture nature’s beauty in refined images as well as creating quick sketches that effectively communicate your designs. These skills are a true force multiplier will take your artistic life to the next level.

Prerequisites

In order to complete assignments, you should be familiar with digital painting foundations. A graphics tablet greatly speeds up the process.

The 5 most important lessons

  1. How to avoid common mistakes and improve your rendering skills to draw and paint realistically - from life and from imagination.

  2. How to analyze, understand and problem-solve even the most complex lighting scenarios in order to use lighting as a creative tool.

  3. How to use lighting principles in any medium and artistic domain, from drawing to photography and 3D modeling.

  4. How to create more freely and bring your images alive by adding solid lighting quickly.

  5. How to build a dependable workflow for lighting and rendering from life and from imagination.

I've had a blast teaching my "Fundamentals of Light & Form" class for the last four years. The new course is the result of distilling all that material (over 10'000 images...!) to its essence - so that the knowledge can go into your brains and hands as quickly and effortlessly as possible. Hard work and dedication still required!

All information about the course is here: www.uartsy.com/course/light-an…

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a note or email!

Dear Sir,

Just went through your gallery. Can I say.......I really don't have enough words to appreciate your talent. It left me crying.

I always wished to be a good artist like yourself....... I wish I could learn from a master like you. But I know none of that's ever going to happen.

Anyway your artwork is really inspiring. I love your charcoal drawings. Your paintings have that old age appeal that is so mesmerizing. I am spell-bound.
Thank you so much for inspiring me.

If you have a little free time, it would be really nice if you could comment on some of my work.
It will really help me progress and make better art every time.

Thanks again and hope to hear from u soon.
